Since I made the switch to natural brands a couple of years ago, I am often asked what I use and where I buy them. Pretty much everything I use for my skincare & cosmetics are natural and toxin free. I will be honest and tell you there a few things that I still use that aren't always natural. Hair dye and nail varnish. Since my hair grew back after chemotherapy I have quite a bit of grey so I continue to color it. To be honest I have always coloured my hair and probably always will. The trouble is I can't find a natural color that offers the same bright red shade I like these days so I am still using what I have always used. However I am constantly on the hunt for a good alternative. Nail polish is the other thing. I actually don't really paint my fingernails, but on the occasions I go and have a salon pedicure I just go with what they have on offer. Unless I remember to take my own toxin free polish with me.
Today on the blog I am sharing with you my favorite natural brands and web shops. I would really encourage you to make the switch over to some of these brands. Even if you only replace one thing at a time as you finish a regular item you'll be making a huge difference to your health. Remember everything you put on your skin is being absorbed.
I have included links for these products and shops which will open in a new window. Why not pour yourself a glass of wine and spend some time checking out all the other fantastic and toxin free products that you'll find.NOURISHED LIFE ONLINE SHOP
The thing I love about the Nourished Life web shop is that I don't have to check any ingredients on any of the products they sell. They have already done all the hard work for me. So I know that if it’s on their shop then its toxin free. They stock a huge number of brands across skincare, cosmetics, hair care, and lifestyle products. And if you sign up sign up to the Nourished Life club you'll get a $5 discount of your first order plus free shipping and rewards points.
100% PURE MARACUJA MASCARA - BLACK TEA
This has been my absolute favorite toxin free mascara since I made the switch to natural products. I am fussy about the shape of mascara wands and this is a shape I like as it gets into the lashes easily. It’s also smudge resistant. It lengthens and thickens the lashes without looking cloggy. The ingredients are 100% organic and it’s an affordable price at $35.
This German brand is a very recent discovery for me and so far I have only tried a few items. However I love what I have tried. The thing I love most about this range is the incredibly affordable prices. The loose mineral powder in the photo here was only $14.95 and the lipstick is also $14.95. The quality of these products is excellent and the color pigmentation in the lipstick is good. I can't wait to try some more products from this range. I ordered mine from the Nourished Life online shop.
Zuii Organic is an Australian brand and they have my absolute favorite of all time blusher. This shade is Melon. It’s the perfect shade to give you a slight pop of color and a natural pinky glow without being to shiny. If you are a NARS lovers this blush is a match to their shade Orgasm The range is certified organic, made from flowers, food grade, preservative free, contains no petrochemicals or paragons, is not tested on animals and has vegan friendly options. It cost me just under $30 and it lasts for ages.
Another one of my favorite natural brands. Their liquid foundation is a permanent fixture in my make up drawer. The packaging is so sleek and stylish and screams of luxury although the price tag is not out of reach. It gives me flawless natural coverage and is very easy to blend. It also gives me intense hydration and best of all it has smoothing anti ageing properties. It’s available in four shades. It cost me $65 but I don't wear this one everyday so it lasts a long time. This is the foundation I use when I am doing a full face of make up.
I have been using the Edible Beauty No.4 Vanilla Silk Hydrating lotion for a few months now and am in love with this product. During the hot months I like something light on my face and this was perfect. A luxurious lightweight moisturiser with a natural SPF, rich in natural AHAs and antioxidants. It cost me $55 but I only need a couple of pumps to cover my whole face and neck (I always do my neck). The packaging is beautiful. I am also going to be ordering the No.3 Goddess Ageless Anti-Ageing Serum to use now the weather is getting cooler in Perth.
It’s no secret that I love essential oils. You'll often see me feature what I am diffusing over on Insta stories for those of you who follow me on Instagram. I was introduced to oils by a good friend a few years ago and I have been using them ever since. I did a blog post a few months ago on my five favorite oils and you can read that here.
In todays post I want to share Ice Blue since I can't live without it, no joke. Ice Blue is a natural alternative to the creams you rub on aching muscles and they either feel cool or hot. I use the Ice Blue Athletic rub and the Ice Blue Athletic blend oil. If I have an ache somewhere on my body (which unfortunately is often these days since chemo) then out comes the rub and oil. A little goes a very long way. They have a cooling & soothing sensation to the targeted area. The blend is made up from Wintergreen, Camphor, Peppermint, Ylang Ylang, Helichrysum, Blue Tansy, Blue Chamomile, and Osmanthus. I also use Ice Blue rub if I have a headache, I just rub a tiny amount on my forehead and temples and a bit across my neck. I highly recommend this rub and oil to anyone who ever gets an ache.
I hope you have enjoyed reading about the products I use and have been inspired to make the switch. It can be really overwhelming working out what to buy. Thats why I encourage people to change one thing at a time. I am always happy to answer any questions, just shoot me an email or message me on my Facebook page.
